BC’s Pay Transparency Act Takes Effect: Job Posting Requirements
The Pay Transparency Act in B.C. mandates the inclusion of salary or wage information on all publicly advertised job postings starting November 1, 2023. This requirement applies to all employers in the province and should specify either the exact wage or a wage range, without unspecified minimum or maximum amounts. Employers may choose to include bonus pay, overtime, tips, or benefits but are not required to do so. The regulation does not dictate the range size, allowing employer discretion. It also applies to jobs posted by third parties for B.C. residents. “Help wanted” ads without specific job details are exempt from this requirement.
